Conor Molloy – AEMS – Event Chairman

Conor Molloy is an independent energy advisor, accepted as a member of the Association of Energy Engineers, CILT, FTAI, IMCA and EVO

With an MSc in Energy Management and Renewable energy from University of Ulster, he is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Measurement & Verification professional (CMVP) and trainer for ISO50001. 

In recent times, he has trained ESOS Lead Assessors in Transport Energy Auditing at the request of the UK Government’s Environment Agency, led the publication of EN 16247-4 Europe’s transport energy audit standard and contributed to ISO50004.

Since 2005, Conor’s day job has been helping business’ save fuel and manage their energy usage for profit and reduced emissions.

David O’Flynn – Head of CSR – Dawn Meats

David O’Flynn as Group Head of CSR is responsible for directing the CSR and sustainability strategy for Dawn Meats a two billion euro beef and lamb processor with operations in Ireland and the UK and offices across Europe.  David has over 20 years’ experience and most recently represented the Irish Food and Drinks industry in the USA and UK as part of the Bord Bia Origin Green Ambassador programme.

David sits on the EU Commission product environmental footprint technical secretariat for red meat, BITC’s Low Carbon Leadership group, Bord Bia’s Agri-food diversity and inclusion taskforce and the Irish Government CSR Forum. David is a chartered civil and environmental engineer with an MBA from University College Cork and MSc in Sustainable Business from Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School.

Donal Murphy – Head of Sales & Marketing – Intuity

Donal Murphy is Head of Sales and Marketing at Intuity , an ISO 27001 Certified Managed IT Company.

Donal partners with Intuity clients nationwide who operated in numerous sectors from Food & Hospitality, through MedTech and BioPharma to Legal, construction and financial.

Emma Cooke – Team Lead – Certification Europe

Emma Cooke is a Team Lead for Certification Europe. Emma advises organisations on how to implement, integrate and become certified to ISO standards. In the 6 years with Certification Europe, Emma has successfully overseen certification with companies within the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries. Emma’s experience is not just in energy management certification, but also in, environmental (ISO 14001), health and safety (ISO 45001), information security (ISO 27001) and quality (ISO 9001) management. Emma holds a BSc in Event Management. On Behalf of Certification Europe, Emma organises events on industry specific topics such as GDPR, Cyber Security, EXEED, S.I. 426 and ESOS.

James Hogan – Programme Manager – Green Business (EPA)

James Hogan is an Environmental Consultant and Project Manager at the Clean Technology Centre, based at CIT since 1995. In that time he has managed a wide range of resource efficiency projects both Irish based and International.
Since 2011, James has been Programme Manager of the Green Business Programme which is funded by the National Waste Prevention Programme.

The Green Business Programme is a free resource efficiency service for business which assists business to identify opportunities for reducing waste, energy and water consumption. Green Business has identified more than €10 million
potential cost savings in 250 businesses in the last 5 years.

Jan Spriet – Researcher – Trinity College Dublin

Jan Spriet is a researcher at the civil, structural and environmental engineering department of Trinity College Dublin. His research is part of the Dwr Uisce project, a collaboration between Trinity College Dublin and Bangor University, Wales, aiming at improving the long-term sustainability in water networks. The project focuses on the water-energy nexus, and the research team in Trinity is focusing on energy recovery and energy efficiency in the water cycle. Within this project Jan’s work focuses on heat recovery from drain- and waste water.

At the future in food conference, his talk will focus on heat recovery from commercial kitchens, and the research being done at Trinity College in this field.

Jeni Meade – Marketing Communications Manger – Meade Potato Company

Jeni Meade is Marketing Communications Manager at Meade Potato Company, one of Ireland’s leading growers, packers and distributors of fresh and prepared produce to the retail and foodservice sector.  While her background is in Communications and Development, she has been interested in environmental matters since first taking coursework in Ecology at the University of Virginia.  Sustainability is a pillar of the company’s Mission Statement and their Sustainability Committee, of which Jeni is the lead, is an active one.

John Pakenham – Business Development – FoodCloud

John Pakenham is Business Development Manager with FoodCloud. FoodCloud is a social enterprise which efficiently redistributes surplus from the food industry to charities and community groups  all over Ireland and the UK.

John’s passion for tackling food waste started while working in Store Operations at Tesco Ireland, where he lead on introducing the FoodCloud concept solution across the Tesco business.  In 2017, he moved to FoodCloud, where he now heads up food sourcing and transport.

Johnathan Reddin – Energy Lead – Dawn Meats

Johnathan Reddin  as group environmental project co-ordinator and energy lead is responsible for the management of Dawn Meats Irelands energy management system (EnMS) and the coordination of all environmental projects relating to energy, water and waste. Johnathan began his role in Dawn under the graduate programme as a trainee environmental manager in Charleville Co. Cork, one of Dawn Meats largest primal beef slaughter and de-boning facilities. Johnathan later played a leading role in deploying the fundamentals of ISO 50001 to 8 of the Irish sites.

Johnathan has a BAgrSc in Agri-Environmental Science and is currently in the process of completing a masters (MSc) in Environmental Sustainability both from University College Dublin.

Michael Maloney – Director of Quality Assurance – Origin Green

Michael is currently the Director of Bord Bia’s Origin Green Programme

Before joining Bord Bia he was the Chief Executive of Bord Glas – the Horticulture Development Board.

He has a degree in Agricultural Science and Masters Degree in Animal Science

Niall Kiernan – Consultant – Global Green Sustainability

Management Consultant – Specialist in the areas of Implementing Origin Green, Environmental Efficiencies (Technical and Organisational), Renewable Energy, ISO Management Systems and Lean Principles.

Niall has completed a wide range of consultancy and training projects in assisting food and beverage companies achieve Origin Green Certification from start to finish. This has resulted in companies making savings of €32,000 on average and assisting companies in working towards more sustainable production.

Niall has a distinct advantage when it comes to environmental efficiency as he has 9 years’ experience in working with businesses from a technical perspective in helping them save money on their energy, waste and water costs and helping them become a more operationally sustainable business and also helping them implement international ISO standards to improve their management and operations. So on a lean programme this perspective can be included as well as experience in operational improvements.

Thomas McGrath – CEO – Cognition

Thomas combines expertise in Internet of Things (IoT), big data advanced analytics, LEAN operations & management performance for Irish food processing & production. Based in London, Thomas spent his career driving operational effectiveness in manufacturing across Europe, systemising Operational Intelligence, initially exploiting SCADA system data before embracing wireless IOT data capture.

Previously, Thomas was Managing Director (EMEA) for Elutions Inc, a US provider of Artificial intelligence for Manufacturers. He was a board-level advisor as a Director at KPMG in London and within industry he held several leadership roles including Head of Transformation at Mouchel plc and Head of Performance at Mayor of London.
